If you notice that Ivy’s screen displays water level information with no plant detected (as shown in the image below), even though the plant is inside, it could indicate a problem with the plant detection sensor. This issue may occur if the sensor is not functioning correctly. Follow the steps below to resolve the problem.

Ensure the Soil is Wet Enough

The soil moisture plays a crucial role in the performance of the plant detection sensor. To ensure the sensor detects the plant:

  • Make sure the soil is sufficiently wet. Dry soil can hinder the sensor’s ability to detect the plant, as it relies on soil-root electrical conductivity.

  • Make sure Ivy has sufficient water in its water tank.

If Soil Moisture is Not Applicable

In some cases, certain plants or soil types require the soil to remain dry for extended periods, which may interfere with plant detection. If this is the case, you can manually set the plant presence status.

Manually Set the Plant Presence Status

To manually set the plant status in the Tuya App:

  1. Open the Tuya App.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Navigate to Plant Sense.

  4. Disable Auto Plant Detection.

  5. Set the plant presence status manually.

Note: This option to manually set the plant status is only available for Ivy planters manufactured before March 2025. Ivy models produced after this date feature a redesigned plant presence sensor, and the manual setting option has been removed.
